Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 4 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease or line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until combined.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. Add the cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Mix just until combined.

  5. Fold in chocolate chips if using.

  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.

  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  8. Allow brownies to cool completely before slicing.

Baker's Tip

For extra flavor, let the brownies sit overnight. The chocolate and vanilla flavors deepen, making them even better the next day.

This recipe yields thick, chewy brownies with crisp edges and a rich chocolate flavor that lets the vanilla shine through.
